Best Dog Parks Near Portland

If you’re anything like me, this time of year is when the dog leash lives by the front door and the treat pouch gets refilled weekly. Spring is in full swing, summer’s creeping closer, and the dog parks around Portland are calling. Whether your pup lives to chase a ball, splash in the water, or just sniff every blade of grass in the tri-county area, there’s a spot nearby that’ll make their tail wag like crazy.

Here are my favorite dog parks near Portland to check out this season:

1. Hazelia Field Dog Park – Lake Oswego

This park is one of the cleanest and most well-maintained in the metro area. Hazelia has two separate fenced areas for large and small dogs, plenty of open space, and even agility equipment. Bonus points for the mountain views and clean-up stations stocked like they actually care (because they do).

2. Woodstock Park – SE Portland

A neighborhood gem. The off-leash area isn’t fenced, but the community vibes are strong, and there’s shade for days. It’s a great place for mellow dogs who just want to hang with their humans (and maybe flirt with a golden retriever or two).

3. Gabriel Park – SW Portland

This is a popular one—and for good reason. The fenced dog area is generous in size, and there’s a water spigot to keep your pup hydrated. The whole park is gorgeous, so a leashed trail walk after the romp is a nice bonus.

4. The Fields Park – Pearl District

If you live downtown or are visiting the Pearl, this is a go-to urban dog spot. The off-leash area is fenced, has turf (great in muddy months), and gives your city dog a chance to stretch those legs. Easy access to coffee shops after = a win-win.

5. Gresham Main City Park – Gresham

This park offers a large off-leash area surrounded by trees and walking trails. It’s less crowded than Portland proper, so it’s ideal for dogs who get overwhelmed in busy spaces. You might even spot a squirrel—or twelve.

6. Happy Valley Off-Leash Dog Park – Happy Valley

This one is super convenient if you’re on the east side. It’s fully fenced, has wood chips for easier cleanup, and a friendly local crowd. It’s not huge, but it gets the job done for a mid-morning energy release.

7. Lynchwood Park – SE Portland

Not as well known, but that’s kind of the charm. The off-leash zone is big, the people are chill, and there’s a playground nearby if your dog is tagging along with tiny humans. Parking is easy, which counts for something.

8. Sandy River Delta Park (Thousand Acres) – Troutdale

Okay, if your dog has energy to burn and a love for water, this is the place. Technically a giant off-leash zone, this massive natural area has trails, open fields, and access to the river. It gets muddy, it gets wild, and dogs go absolutely nuts—in the best way.

9. Sellwood Riverfront Park – Sellwood/Moreland

Perfect for a hot day. Dogs can swim, roll in the sand, and chase each other through the open lawn. It’s a little slice of summer heaven and an easy stop if you’re headed to the Sellwood shops after.

Bonus Option: SniffSpot

Want something quieter than a dog park or have a pup who’s reactive, anxious, or just prefers solo time? Check out SniffSpot. It’s like Airbnb for private dog parks—locals rent out their fenced backyards, fields, and even small farms by the hour. No dog park politics. Just your dog, your rules, and peace of mind.

Wrapping it up…
There’s no shortage of great dog parks near Portland, and whether you want a full-on trail adventure or just a quick energy burn before dinner, you’ve got options. So leash up, pack some treats, and let your dog lead the way.

If you have a favorite I didn’t mention, drop it in the comments or DM me on Instagram—I’m always up for finding new places to sniff out.
